Morning Lions "White Cane Day" is Saturday
Mayor Jimmie-John King, seated in center, signed a proclamation last week declaring Saturday, Oct. 7 White Cane Day in the city of Stewartville. On that day, members of the Stewartville Morning Lions Club will collect donations to help restore the gift of sight to individuals with vision problems. Kay Tvedt is very passionate about helping the visually impaired.
That's why she's the chair of the Stewartville Morning Lions Club's White Cane Day initiative.
Around the world, the members of Lions Clubs International have worked for many years to restore the gift of sight to millions of people.
Locally, the Morning Lions will join the effort by hosting White Cane Day this Saturday, Oct. 7. Club members, working in shifts, will seek donations at the two Kwik Trips, both Casey's stores and Fareway from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m...
