Members of the Stewartville Fire Department celebrated Fire Prevention Week with a visit to Bonner Elementary School last week. Students stood in lines to await their chance to get a close-up look at the inside of a fire truck. Firefighters also visited the preschoolers at the Central Education Center.
Jake and Stephanie Kiefer brought their children to the Stewartville Fire Hall last week. The Kiefers watched as their 6-year-old daughter, Claire, operated a fire hose under the watchful eye of Josh Murphy, a Stewartville firefighter. They were also happy for their son Liam, 22 months, who is greatly intrigued by fire trucks. "We pulled in and (Liam) was making a fire truck noise," Stephanie said. The Kiefers were among hundreds of local and area families who attended the Stewartville Fire Department's annual open house last Wednesday, Oct. 11.
