The Mayo Clinic's Destination Medical Center (DMC) plan will significantly affect not only Rochester, but all surrounding communities as well, Jerry Williams told the Stewartville School Board last week.
Williams, the interim president of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce, said that the Mayo Clinic and Rochester will not be able to carry off the DMC initiative alone.
"Stewartville is an integral part of this," Williams said. "All area communities will be impacted by what's going to happen with the DMC."
Williams emphasized that Stewartville and other small area cities can prepare for the growth expected from the DMC initiative by discussing ways to make their communities more attractive to newcomers.
"When people move in for these (new) jobs, they're not all going to live in Rochester," he said. "The conversations we are..."
