The Stewartville Middle School Builders Club recently made 30 blankets for the children at the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester. Members include, from left, Christian Garza and Sophia Kruger, seventh graders; Madison Feine, a sixth grader; and Craig Bell, Builders Club advisor.

Christian Garza enjoys being part of the Stewartville Middle School Builders Club.
Christian, a seventh grader, joined the club to help tie blankets for children at the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester.
Christian was on hand last week as the group, led by advisor Craig Bell, prepared to bring 30 blankets to the Ronald McDonald House, where children with serious illnesses received the comforters as special gifts.
"I like that we're taking (the blankets) to the Ronald McDonald House for the kids," Christian said. "It's really fun tying them, and having the fabric, and looking at the fabric and all the cool designs."
Sophia Kruger, another seventh grader, said the children at the Ronald McDonald House would appreciate the gifts.
"I think they're going to be really excited," she said. "They'll feel special because they get blankets tied for them."
Tying blankets as a group is very enjoyable, Sophia said.
"I think it's fun," she said. "You get to tie blankets with your friends, and not by yourself."
About 12 Builders Club members worked on the blankets five or six consecutive Tuesdays.
"I think it was really fun, seeing the designs," said Madison Feine, a sixth grader who chipped in to help. "I think the kids (at the Ronald McDonald House) are really going to appreciate that we took the time to do this."
The Builders Club has made tying blankets an annual tradition. That's why, when it comes to dropping off the blankets at the Ronald McDonald House, Bell now has plenty of experience.
"They're used to getting one or two of them at a time," he said. "When I bring in 30 of them, they get kind of big-eyed, and they have really wide smiles."
Other students who helped tie blankets included eighth graders Mckayla Wright, Adrian Ford, Jessica Cesca Kassel, Skylar Schaefer, Garret Jorgensen, Madison Blong and Solin Kek; seventh grader Michelle Manning and sixth grader Hannah Hewitt.
