Memorial service for Gwendolyn Minter Aug. 30 in Pleasant Grove
Gwendolyn A. Minter 79, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on Aug. 19, 2017 at Mayo Clinic in Rochester-St. Marys Campus.
Gwendolyn Agnes Minter (Dolly) was born on Jan. 1, 1938 in Mantorville to Guinn and Agnes (Stransky) Minter. She grew up in rural Mantorville and Pine Island and attended country school and high school.
She was married and moved to Oakdale. She was later divorced. After her children were grown, Gwen lived in Danbury, Wis. where she was employed in manufacturing for many years and was a machinist at the time of her retirement. She moved to Hastings for several years and most recently had moved to Rochester due to her health. Gwen was an avid hunter, fisherwoman, gardener, enjoyed the lake and being outdoors and time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gwen is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Zacharias and Roxanne Jackson both of Rochester, Susanne Buck (Tim) Lewis of Omaha, Neb. and Carolyn Buck of Hastings; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Jessie) Bleichner, Jamie Buck, Avery Buck, Nicholas Buck, Adam Beyer, Nicole Beyer, Kayla (Samantha) Mead and Kenneth Mead; seven great-grandchildren, Keyanna, Logan, Blake, Lilly, Ambrosia, Azalea and Keenan; one sister, Alyce Swanson of Hastings; four brothers, Donald Minter, Richard (Robertina) Minter, Kenneth (Sharon) Minter and Guinn Jr. (Phyllis) Minter all of Stewartville, as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert Minter and Thomas Minter and a son-in-law, Willis Jackson.
A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017 at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ in Pleasant Grove with Rev. Lance Lorenz officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
A time of visitation for friends and family will take place on hour prior to service at the church.
