Funeral for Phyllis Gullickson Oct. 28

The funeral service for Phyllis C. Gullickson will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 28 at Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville, with Rev. Byron Meline officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
Mrs. Gullickson, 87, of Stewartville, died of natural causes on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at her daughter's home in Racine.
Phyllis Cedell Eppard was born on June 22, 1926 to Burton and Lillian (Quamen) Eppard in Dover. She moved with her family as a young girl to rural Rochester where her father managed one of the Mayo family farms. She grew up on that farm, attended Bamber Valley grade school and Rochester Central High School, graduating in 1942.
Phyllis was married on April 15, 1944 in Rantoul, IL to Clifford A. Gullickson, who was serving in the U.S. Army at the time. Following their marriage the couple lived in Hampton, VA. where Cliff was stationed. After his discharge, the couple lived in St. Paul before moving to Rochester and then to Stewartville in 1954. Phyllis was a homemaker and a longtime employee at Peoples Cooperative Power Co. in Rochester as a receptionist and in their accounting department. Cliff was co-owner and operator of C&S Plumbing and Heating in Rochester. Mr. Gullickson died on August 6, 1987.
Phyllis bowled in the women's league at Recreation Lanes in Rochester for many years and was a past volunteer for the Rochester Royals baseball team. She enjoyed many past-times with Cliff - they danced expertly, camped and fished in Chicken Town in rural Mabel- Canton, played cards and cheered for the Vikings. Phyllis also enjoyed crocheting, going to the casino, playing the piano and organ, karaoke, crossword puzzles, entertaining in her home and time spent with family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Karen (Deri) Nordsving of Racine.; six grandchildren, Mark Schumann, Jody Murdock, Tonia Gardner, Traci Schumann, Deri Nordsving, Jr. and Darin Nordsving; eight great-grandchildren; three nieces who were raised by Cliff and Phyllis, Hjordis Engel and Louise Mielke both of Stewartville and Lucille Weber of Rochester; sister-in-law, Kaye Eppard of Rochester and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, her parents, her brother Philip Eppard and a niece, Carla Brandt and nephew, Roger Ferguson.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27 at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville, or one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday morning.
Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville.
