Vicki Meredith, who recently moved back to her hometown, Danube, Minn. served as president of the Stewartville Area Historical Society for 23 years, from 1997 until 2020. She has many fond memories. “We were fortunate to have such a good group,” she said. “By the time it came to make a decision, it was unanimous.”

Vicki Meredith's long association with the Stewartville Area Historical Society began in a humorous, unexpected and rather charming way.
It was the early 1990s, and Vicki and her daughter Alyssia were working in the Girl Scouts booth at the Stewartville Area Chamber of Commerce's annual Home Show.
At one point over the Home Show weekend, Alyssia wrote Vicki's name on a slip of paper and dropped the slip into a box at the Historical Society booth next door.
"My name got drawn for a free membership," Meredith said. "I started going to meetings. I got on the Historical Society Board as historian..."
