Workers from Schwickert’s Tecta America of Stewartville inspected and temporarily repaired Stewartville City Hall’s roof after a freakish storm packing powerful winds tore off a section of shingles during the overnight hours between Wednesday, Dec. 15 and Thursday,Dec. 16. Winds in the Stewartville area reached speeds of 60 to 80 miles per hour that night.

A freakish storm packing powerful winds tore shingles off the roof of Stewartville City Hall during the overnight hours between Wednesday, Dec. 15 and Thursday, Dec. 16.
About 1,980 Stewartville households lost electrical power for about 44 hours after tornadoes and thunderstorms from the same storm knocked down power poles in northern Iowa and southern Minnesota on Wednesday evening, Dec. 15. Stewartville lost power at about 7:45 that evening.
On Tuesday, Dec. 28, workers from Schwickert's Tecta America of Stewartville checked City Hall's roof to determine the extent of the damage, said Bill Schimmel Jr., city administrator...
