Conrad F. Fingerson, 82, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 30, 2021, at Mayo Clinic St. Mary's Campus, in Rochester.
Conrad Ferdinand Fingerson was born April 4, 1939 to Malvin and Corolla (Sundet) Fingerson in Rochester. Conrad grew up in Fountain and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1957. After graduating he went to the University of Minnesota, where he received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
On September 7, 1962, he married Carmen Wirth. They had four children and later divorced. He served in the Peace Corps in India from 1963-1964. His first job was at IBM in Rochester. He then went on to start up AFC Inc. in 1971 in Chatfield. He founded another company Geotek Inc. in Rushford in 1990 which was eventually relocated to Stewartville.
Conrad married Bonnie Debel on June 27, 2009, they later divorced.
Conrad was a true adventurer who flew his own airplane for many family travels. He traveled the "loop" in an American Tug Boat down the Mississippi River, and around Florida, up the coast to New York and back through the Saint Lawrence Seaway.
Conrad is survived by his four children, Pam (Rob) Holte, Gwen Schipper, John (Michele) Fingerson, and Mike (Carrie) Fingerson; seven grandchildren, Jacob Pierce (Carolina Cerpa), Ben Pierce, Megan (John) Campbell, Isaac, and Livia, Madeleine, and Luke Fingerson; one great-grandchild, Lydia Pierce; and brother, Leroy (Ruth) Fingerson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Malvin and Corolla; sister and brother-in-law, Lila and Donald Eickhoff.
A private graveside memorial service for Conrad will be held at 5 p.m. today (Tuesday, May 4, 2021), at Root Prairie Lutheran Cemetery in rural Fountain.
